What do we know

Read this... or at least skim it.

I have a bit of a bone to pick.
There are millions of pictures on the Web. Still shots. Images of one brief moment in time. The time it takes for a camera to capture.
How long is that?
Not very. Lets for this sake call it 1 second. (makes the math easy)

It really does not matter who, but I'm going to use our President of the United States as the example in this post.

There are pictures of him not holding his hand over his heart while others are.
We are asked to believe that he will not put his hand over his heart.
We are asked to believe that he is un-American because of that one second slice of time.
I am curious if that picture was taken before, during or after?
Knowing what I have known of past presidents and the propaganda that opposing parties and the press love to toss about, I find it hard to believe that he is un-American. However if it is truth. Then that is that.

I do not care if you like him.
I do not care if you love him.
I do not care if you hate him.
I do not care if you voted for him.

I do care that people jump to conclusions.
I do care that folk will judge someone so easily from a 1 second slice of life.

Try this experiment. Put your hand in your lap then raise it while saying "one one thousand." How far did it move in that amount of time. I can get mine to my shoulder, easily.

So, remember that and keep an open mind. You can replace him with anyone. Heck you can replace him with me or your spouse or children, who ever you have or can see a picture of. Unless you were there you do not know all that was going on.

I Am A: Neutral Good Human Ranger/Sorcerer (3rd/3rd Level)

Ability Scores:

Neutral Good A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment because it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Primary Class:
Rangers are skilled stalkers and hunters who make their home in the woods. Their martial skill is nearly the equal of the fighter, but they lack the latter's dedication to the craft of fighting. Instead, the ranger focuses his skills and training on a specific enemy a type of creature he bears a vengeful grudge against and hunts above all others. Rangers often accept the role of protector, aiding those who live in or travel through the woods. His skills allow him to move quietly and stick to the shadows, especially in natural settings, and he also has special knowledge of certain types of creatures. Finally, an experienced ranger has such a tie to nature that he can actually draw on natural power to cast divine spells, much as a druid does, and like a druid he is often accompanied by animal companions. A ranger's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

Secondary Class:
Sorcerers are arcane spell casters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline. They have no books, no mentors, no theories just raw power that they direct at will. Sorcerers know fewer spells than wizards do and acquire them more slowly, but they can cast individual spells more often and have no need to prepare their incantations ahead of time. Also unlike wizards, sorcerers cannot specialize in a school of magic. Since sorcerers gain their powers without undergoing the years of rigorous study that wizards go through, they have more time to learn fighting skills and are proficient with simple weapons. Charisma is very important for sorcerers; the higher their value in this ability, the higher the spell level they can cast.

Very productive and bets taken.

Our house guests showed up with out issue on Friday evening.
After dinner dwarven_brewer and I went off to the Gym so he could help me out by setting up a routine for me. This is one of his skill sets.

We only had an hour to run through exercises.
The elliptical is the bane of my existence and therefore WILL be tackled often. 5 minutes is my max right now. Legs just can not put up with more. I find this most unacceptable. So it and i will be meeting up frequently to see, who in the end, will win.
Its not the battles that matter so much. This is war.
After a 5 minute warm up on the Elliptical we went around and spent much of our time with free weights (yay)
In the end he set me up with this.Collapse )
All I have been doing since then is stretching.
As you can see I have a long ways to go to get strong again. FF2 showed how bad I had been affected by being sick. Now, I fix that.

Saturday was Gaming day. Along with Ambulance Duty. It was a quiet 36 hours. We had a call but it was not a big deal.
gaming was lead by Harwood and run with Savage Worlds Rules. (Yay!)
I'm playing an over confident girl genius character. I make arcane objects. I'm having a lot of fun with this though I need to spend a bit more time on researching what I want to build.
At 5 I had to stop Gaming so I could get ready for another fire Company installation banquet. I get to go to a lot of these now. yay.
Before leaving a bunch placed bets as to what I would be dealing with from a random wandering drunk.

The dinner was good. I had fun. I'm making new friends. (awwww).
It took a long time for food to be served. For me it seemed like forever since I could eat the fruit and veg they had set up for appetizers but couldn't have the salad since it was covered in dressing. (yes I asked if I could have one without and they had them all set up. I needed to ask earlier but didn't.) So, my bad. I should have planned ahead a bit better.
Then after serving everyone salad and after clearing all the salad plates they then placed pasta bowls for everyone.
Then they had to serve a family style pasta dish.
This all took time. Not a big deal and it was fine if you were eating all of it.
The pasta dish looked like a tortellini (cheese) with tomatoes in a vodka sauce. The sauce is a guess since no one at the table knew what a vodka sauce was and I was guessing from basic smell and looks. I didn't have my designated taster there with me who could describe what they were tasting. Oh well.
After those dishes were cleared up we were then told we could go to the buffet.
The beef dish was wonderfully prepared with a horseradish rub. with additional HR sauce as a side.
Mixed veg that was not an over cooked mess. Very bright and flavorful with a butter and herb sauce. (very light)
there were potatoes and such along with rolls too.
I filled my plate with meat and veg and dug in.

After dinner we had the installation of their officers. It was grand to watch. Rather formal, but not stuffy by any means.
then we went through a year in review photo presentation. I liked that and wish more stations did that sort of thing. We have done it some years and had it playing off in the back ground during appetizers or after the installation of officers.
There was also a memorial tribute that was very well done.
I spoke with a few people and had my random wandering drunk encounter which my ambulance companies 1st Truck LT ran interference for me with. It was touching and wonderful and cute of him to step in and do that. He is the sort of guy who really wants to be a White Knight. And he was. I appreciated his efforts. He helped make what could have been a much more uncomfortable social situation for me much less so. We all know I do not deal well with drunks. I lack the "social skills" to do so.

Anyways I got back to the Ambulance garage and back on duty in time for our one call.

Sunday different muscles were sore. So, more stretching was done.
We had breakfast out and I went on a mission of mercy for one of the Fire Chiefs and Hawk took our guests to the train station.
After that is was a low key day. A bit of house cleaning and dealing with storage after going off duty along with a trip through the supermarket.

I am very much NOT ready for the meeting tonight. I have to figure out my reports. I was hoping to do it last night but it didn't happen. (my fault)

All is going well with the new employee. I am spending a lot of time getting data together so she can work. Much of it is data I would have to gather so i am still only doing 1/2 the job. I can deal with this. There are still projects that I want to get to work on but can not due to time issues.
All things in time. As it is I have managed, with her help, to close out 3 outstanding issues.
So, Life is good.

I have to share this

Chipmunk starwars
I get emails from Pet supply stores.
What pet owner doesn't?
Anyways... Here is what I got tonight... I just had to share.

makes for a productive day.
Getting lots done.
Only 3.5 of us in the Eng area. the .5 was someone who wasnt here all day.

At lunch I ran out to the credit union. Picked up a new Debit card (the one I had expired... a year ago) and reset up my online access.
I had money in there! more than i thought.
Not a lot though. It is now working for me again.

right now April is not looking very possible for paying off the car... but May is. I will take it. as long as it is before June 3rd.

furry rest

Swan Rising
Sunday night we inflated the air bed and made it up.
I climbed in and started to settle out.
Shadow, who is a doppleganger of the cat I had as a kid (Thumper), walked to the head of the bed.
I had an arm laying next to my head at a right angle (like the Right turn hand signal).
I put out a finger to see if she wanted scritches, she did. duh.
She then proceeded to curl up with her hind feet trapping my arm and with her face just a couple inches from mine.
(I'm a bit allergic to cats. It has been getting better lately but still...)
She purred the obscene purr that some cats can produce.
She eventually stuck her face under my pillow and purred under my ear.
We both slept like that for hours.
Eventually I woke and moved my arm. She objected and left.
a little later Hawk woke with his legs pinned by Shadow.
A bit after that I woke to hear purring at the foot of the bed between Hawk and I.

It was nice to have her being social with me. It has been a while.

She is ~14 years old. She adopted the house and showed up when Steve and J moved in 12 years ago.

Retail therapy

Swan Rising
After every visit (or mostly at least) with Gram.
We go out for a little decompression time. There is a Wegmans in Webster just at the end of the road Grams assisted living facility is at. So we often stop in there to pick up a couple treats.
I love their fresh squeezed juices.
Hawk likes to rummage around the specialty food section.
Monday we also grabbed a bit of lunch at the pig bar. The salad I had was very yummy and Hawk made up a sampler.

After Weggies we went off to a friends gaming store. He is running for Mayor again. it should be interesting to watch what happens this time.
While at the store I also picked up two more Savage worlds companion gaming books.
Super Powers and Fantasy. :)
I know that both are not up everyones ally but I like them so :-P.
I'm also getting tired of the undead.

Boss just stopped in.
He is working on trying to get me an Aid. At least for about 2 months. May come from in house or out. We would both prefer in house.

Also there is talk of having me focus more on Eng then on Ops.
